I’m Rose, the person behind Flux Coffee House. 

Coffee has been a huge part of my life for years. I’ve spent most of my adult life in coffee shops. First studying for my A-levels, then my bachelor’s degree and now my PhD. Not to mention being a barista was my first ever job back in 2017, which seems to have stuck all these years later. However for most of that time, coffee was just part of the background. 

It wasn’t until 2025 that I discovered the art of speciality coffee which has taken me on adventures all over the world, from London to Amsterdam to Copenhagen and even Abu Dhabi. Across all my adventures, I’ve come to realise the coffees i’ve enjoyed and remembered the most aren’t necessarily the ones I thought tasted the best. They were the ones I remembered from feeling most at home in somebody elses house. I started viewing coffee as an experience, rather than just a drink. It’s the smile when you first walk through the door and the genuine conversation at the bar. It’s the music, the atmosphere and the feeling of being genuinely welcome. In a world constantly rushing towards the next thing, when done right, I feel coffee gives us a reason to pause. 

That’s the inspiration behind flux coffee house. I wanted to create something of my own that gives people a reason to slow down and experiences to remember. One day, I’d love a permanent space that feels like somebody else’s home in the same way my favourite coffee shops have felt like mine. 

I chose the name inspired by the idea of continuous movement and change, tying in with my engineering roots and love of CrossFit. Life rarely stands still, and I wanted to honour that.
